Chris and the Magic Tacos

May 17th, 2012 § 2 comments § permalink

Chris Koehler always mentions “taco clock” during the evening hours of website class. Taco clock is break time to get tacos for dinner…and that’s it! Afu Chan and I decided to give each other assignments for the summer. Our first assignment was a self portrait of our previous instructor, Chris & his awesome addiction to tacos. Here is my depiction of Chris the moment he says “taco clock.” Haha, I love tacos too that I joined him one time for taco clock.

So what does my sketchbook look like? A friend asked me to upload some of the work I do in my sketchbook. Here is a peak into my Molskine book 1. Currently I have three books and I’m about to fill up my third one. I’ll post some stuff from book 2 later. Keep an eye out for more sketches!

Shape, color, pattern!

A few months ago I had a drill instructor who taught me how to paint (for real). His name is Mark Eanes. He’s super passionate about art, painting, and the old masters. He would stress, “shape, color, pattern,” a mantra that will probably stick with me for a long time. Anyway, I wanted to share some of the oil painting studies I did that I really enjoy.

Anna’s 25th Birthday

…Happy Birthday to me! Two days ago it was my birthday and I took a day trip out to Fort Bragg with my boyfriend, Matthew. The drive out there was really pretty because we were surrounded by redwood trees, plant life, and beautiful coastal views. It was magic. I took a lot of pictures and I’m hoping to paint a few in a couple days or so. For my 25th after the Fort Bragg trip, I spent a nice evening with my family & boyfriend, cooked dinner, had drinks, and ice cream cake! Thanks for the good time. A day after my birthday marked my four years with Matthew. He is super amazing because he takes me on a lot of trips and we experience so much together! So below is a portrait of me and him being stupid in love or “retardedly cute.” The mediums I used for this piece was just gouache on cardboard. I really like painting on  half tones. Same method is used with watercolors (I lay down a warm base color). Keep an eye out for new updates!

Girl screen print

Something quick and easy I did Sunday night last weekend. This is something I usually do in my sketchbook and decided to do it for my screen printing class. I really like the hot pink color I used for the shorts. I plan to go over it again with black ink for the hair to give the figures a nice balance. This is a great introduction for me doing more fashion oriented stuff during the summer! Keep an eye out for more updates!
